Subscription
Tiers
Nötkey offers four tiers. Free gives access to the app without Device Owner. Guardian, Sentinel, and Sentinel Pro each enable Device Owner mode and full profile separation. Pricing is displayed in Google Play.
Free
No subscription requiredAccess to the Nötkey application without Device Owner or profile separation. Suitable for evaluating the app before committing to full setup.

Free does not include Private Profile, profile switching, Emergency wipe, or Border mode. These features require Guardian or higher.
Guardian
Monthly or annual subscriptionThe entry-level paid tier. Enables Nötkey's full protection model with Device Owner mode. Requires a factory reset.
Everything in Free, plus:

Requires factory reset to set up. Setup takes 45–60 minutes. This is irreversible without another factory reset.
Sentinel
Monthly or annual subscriptionA higher paid tier that includes all Guardian capabilities plus additional monitoring and enforcement visibility capabilities.

Sentinel Pro

Connectivity and grace period
If your device cannot verify your subscription status due to connectivity loss, paid-tier features remain available for up to 14 days without successful verification. After that, higher-tier features may become restricted until connectivity is restored and the subscription is confirmed.
For payment failures, Google Play manages its own retry window. Nötkey follows the entitlement status reported by Google Play. If Google Play marks the subscription as expired after failed payment retries, Nötkey will downgrade your tier accordingly.
Nötkey is designed for use in contexts where connectivity may be intermittent — including border crossings and remote locations. The grace period ensures a temporary loss of internet does not abruptly affect your device's security posture.
Downgrade behavior
If a paid subscription expires or is cancelled:
- Your account reverts to the Free tier.
- Features exclusive to your previous tier will no longer be accessible.
- The data in your Private Profile is not deleted by the tier change alone.
- You can re-subscribe to restore your previous tier's features. Existing profile data is preserved.
If your subscription lapses while you are relying on higher-tier features, those features stop functioning until the subscription is renewed.

Pricing
Pricing for each tier is displayed in the Google Play Store. All subscriptions are billed and managed through Google Play. Subscription cancellation and refund eligibility are governed by Google Play's policies. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
